Agriculture & Horticulture Training Program

Agriculture and horticulture are vital sectors that contribute significantly to India’s economy and food security. Atharv Welfare Society is committed to enhancing the knowledge, skills, and practices of farmers and horticulturists through our Agriculture & Horticulture Training Program.

Objectives

  1. Skill Enhancement: Our primary objective is to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of farmers and horticulturists in modern agricultural and horticultural practices, including crop cultivation, pest management, soil conservation, and post-harvest techniques.
  2. Promote Diversification: We aim to promote diversification of crops and cultivation practices to increase agricultural resilience, optimize land use, and expand income opportunities for farmers and horticulturists.
  3. Encourage Sustainable Practices: Our program emphasizes the adoption of sustainable agricultural and horticultural practices that conserve natural resources, minimize environmental impact, and promote long-term resilience and productivity.
  4. Market Access: We facilitate access to markets, value chains, and market information for farmers and horticulturists, empowering them to make informed decisions about crop selection, production planning, and market engagement.

Program Components

Technical Workshops

We organize technical workshops and training sessions conducted by experts in agriculture and horticulture, covering topics such as crop selection, soil management, irrigation techniques, pruning, grafting, and pest control.

Practical Demonstrations

We conduct practical demonstrations and field trials to showcase best practices in crop cultivation, horticultural techniques, and innovative technologies, allowing participants to observe and learn from real-life examples.

Hands-on Training

Participants receive hands-on training and practical experience in crop cultivation, nursery management, greenhouse operations, and post-harvest handling under the guidance of experienced trainers and facilitators.

Farm Visits

We organize farm visits and study tours to successful farms, agricultural research centres, and horticultural gardens to expose participants to innovative practices, new varieties, and emerging trends in agriculture and horticulture.

Market Linkages

We facilitate linkages between farmers, horticulturists, and market actors, including wholesalers, retailers, exporters, and agri-businesses, to create market opportunities for their produce and value-added products.

Impact Evaluation

We conduct regular assessments and surveys to evaluate the impact of our Agriculture & Horticulture Training Program on participants’ knowledge, skills, practices, and socio-economic outcomes. Feedback from participants and stakeholders guides the continuous improvement and adaptation of our training modules and methodologies.

Through our Agriculture & Horticulture Training Program, we aim to empower farmers and horticulturists with the knowledge, skills, and resources to enhance productivity, improve livelihoods, and contribute to sustainable agriculture and rural development.
